Weekly Geeks 2009-23: Reading Challenges
Saturday, June 20, 2009
This week's Weekly Geeks topic was suggested by Sheri of A Novel Menagerie. She writes:
"Reading Challenges: a help or a hurt? Do you find that the reading challenges keep you organized and goal-oriented? Or, do you find that as you near the end of a challenge that you've failed because you fell short of your original goals? As a result of some reading challenges, I've picked up books that I would have otherwise never heard of or picked up; that, frankly, I have loved. Have you experienced the same with challenges? If so, which ones? Do you have favorite reading challenges?"
As we pass the halfway point of 2009, how are you doing with your reading challenges? Did you participate in any challenges this year?
Be sure to come back to this post and leave a link to your Weekly Geeks post. Don't forget to visit your fellow Weekly Geeks throughout the week and see how they're doing with their reading challenges.

I put myself on Mr Linky, and meant to indicate that I manage the Agatha Christie Reading Challenge which is a challenge to read Agatha Christie novels, in order if you wish, which is what I do. One of the features is a monthly Blog Carnival in which participants list the reviews they have written of Agatha Christie novels in the preceding month. You can join the challenge using Mr Linky. I don't really participate in any other challenges, although I've been tempted.
I'm still trying to figure out how to do the Weekly Geeks posts correctly. I have just started blogging about a month ago and discovered challenges. I love them because I have alot of books on my To Read list and this helps me chose what to read next and it's fun to share with others doing the same challenge. I have to be careful not to join to many.
I am in a slew of challenges - some finished, some not going so good...
see my efforts here.

Oh! I am so surprised that you picked my topic! How fun is that? I'm going to write a post about it! YEAH!
Here is my post about the reading challenges: http://anovelmenagerie.com/ghost/2009/06/20/weekly-geeks-reading-challenge/
Mine's up - happy Weekly Geeks :)
I love challenges. They give me options of what to read when I really don't want to go to my TBR list. :)
Mine is up!
So I take it Mr. Linky is working again, but he's not posting the links within the blog now?
@tokemise: the idea is that you write a post about the WeeklyGeek question in your blog and give us the url to that post via Mr. Linky.
Then, start reading (and commenting on) other Geek's answers in their blogs: you'll find the urls to those in Mr. Linky as well. Of course you can do it the other way round if you need some inspiration ;)
Haven't participated in Weekly Geeks for a while. But this was a great topic, so I couldn't resist. I seem to be addicted to challenges. Here's my post about my long list of the things.
Posted my first ever Weekly Geeks this week - hope I did everything right? Thanks for the good excuse to think once a week :D
Good topic - here's my response.
Here's mine
I posted a challenge update in May and since then have added NINE challenges. I'm also hosting four. One has such a short time frame, I may "fail" my own challenge LOL
Here's my first Weekly Geek post, challenges and reviews.
Here's my response - http://brideofthebookgod.wordpress.com/2009/06/26/weekly-geeks-reading-challenges/
I've written a post about challenges and accidently linked it with a reviewed book title instead of my blog name, Fresh Ink Books. The link goes to the right place, it just looks wrong. If you can remove it, great. I'll put it up again properly. If not I'll just leave my link here:

Thank you.
